September 2021 Meeting Recap

On a glorious fall evening, approximately 45 Woolwich Women attended our live meeting hosted at the Blue Bruce B&B on Tuesday September 28th.

Some members arrived early to enjoy and tour the Blue Bruce property, and others brought a picnic dinner to take full advantage of the fresh outdoor air. The Blue Bruce was the perfect venue to safely reconnect. We are very grateful to our hosts at The Blue Bruce for their donation of the venue, and we hope members had the opportunity to explore.

We’d like to thank all members who attended for conscientiously following the covid-19 protocols throughout the evening.

Promptly at 6, the presentations began. Our three nominees – Kw Brain Injury Association,  Guelph 2 Goderich Trail, and Family Violence Prevention Program (WCS) – gave details about how and why their organization needed and would use the donated funds.

Family Violence Prevention Program  (at Woolwich Community Services) was chosen as the recipient of our September meeting.

If you are able, please consider supporting the other charities who came out to speak, last night we learned from Lynda at Brain Injury Association of Waterloo Wellington that brain Injuries acquired from intimate partner violence are very real and affect more women than the current breast cancer statistics. We also heard about the Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail. This trail is not supported by any regional or municipal governance and that improving infrastructure along the trail is a complicated and expensive process.
